Library of Things opens at the University Library

The Library of Things opened in the HumSam Library on January 16. Come by and borrow a drill, a back pack or maybe a spade!

What is the Library of Things?

The Library of Things is a collection of useful tools, hiking equipment and sports equipment students and staff at The University in Oslo now can borrow from the library! These things are equipment you normally only need once in a while, so instead of each person buying their own, many people can now share the tools and equipment in the Library of Things.

Why Library of Things?

One of the main goals in UiO's climate and environmental strategy states this: "Climate and green campus: reduce the university’s climate footprint and develop ‘green campuses’."

The establishment of Library of Things is thus a step on the way towards a greener university.

How to use the collection

The collection is located on Level 1 in the HumSam Library in Georg Sverdrup's hus, near the Academic Writing Centre. The Library of Things can only be used by students and staff at UiO and the loan period is 7 days. You can read more about what you can borrow and how to proceed on the page for the Library of Things.

We hope this will be a success and that both students and staff will find their way to the Library of Things!
