Academic English is used by researchers to be accepted into a community of practice. It is a genre with special characteristics. This short course focuses on the language aspects of English academic writing.

In this course you can improve your abilities in writing convincing academic texts and achieve some insights into the English language.

We will explore formal style in text production and how to make a text better.

Suitable for all master’s and PhD students writing in English.

Lecturer

Barry Kavanagh at the Academic Writing Centre is also an assistant professor at the Department of Literature, Area Studies and European Languages (teaching English grammar, phonetics and intonation). He is writing a Ph.D. at the Inland University of Applied Sciences on how corpora can be useful in English language teaching.
