Will you be using personal data in your research?

In this 90-minute course we will introduce the key concepts of privacy and data protection in research, including the basics of research ethics, the types of personal data, researchers' responsibilities, and study consents. We will also present data protection resources available at UiO.

We will wrap up with a question and answer session where you will be able to ask us any questions you have about privacy and data protection!

Target Audience

PhD students, Postdocs, researchers, and research support staff at the University of Oslo.

Learning Objectives

After the workshop, you:

  • are familiar with the key concepts of privacy and data protection
  • know what personal data are
  • know how to move forward with projects that include personal data

Setup

The course will take place on Zoom and is delivered by The University of Oslo Library and Digital Scholarship Center – as part of the Skills Development for Research Data project funded by the UiO Advisory Council for eInfrastructure.
