Sharing and archiving research data

Are you keen on sharing your research data? Or does your publisher or funder require that your dataset is available?

Course presentation

 

In this 90-minute course we will discuss why it is important to share your data and how data sharing can benefit researchers. We will look over best practices for data sharing and discuss how to archive data in research data archives and data repositories. We will also introduce the concepts of FAIR data, permanent identifiers (PID), and licensing.

We will wrap up with a question and answer session where you will be able to ask us any questions you have about data sharing and archiving!

Target Audience

PhD students, Postdocs, researchers, and research support staff at the University of Oslo.

Learning Objectives

After the workshop, you:

  • know why sharing and archiving data is important and beneficial
  • know what to be aware of when preparing for archiving your data
  • have overview over where you can archive your data
  • are familiar with concepts such as FAIR data, permanent identifiers, and licensing

Setup

The course will take place on Zoom and is delivered by The University of Oslo Library and Digital Scholarship Center – as part of the Skills Development for Research Data project funded by the UiO Advisory Council for eInfrastructure.
