What is the workshop about?

Learn to create effective ReadMe-files, optimize folder structures, and discover relevant metadata standards for your research field. We'll cover key concepts, file naming, and provide a hands-on guide to crafting ReadMe files. Then, you'll apply this knowledge to your projects. Q&A included.

Learning Objectives

In addition to creating a draft of your project's Readme-file, you will:

  • Gain an overview over the main aspects of data documentation.
  • Familiarise yourself with different file naming convention and folder organisations.
  • Discover where to find available metadata standards for your research field.
  • Learn how to compose each section of a Readme-file efficiently and effectively.

Required material

Please bring your laptop. If you have a Data Management Plan (DMP) or a Readme-file draft, feel free to bring them, but starting from scratch is also fine.
