Description
More and more researchers across disciplines are preregistering their hypotheses, methods, and analysis plans before they collect or analyze the data. Preregistration motivates us to think more carefully about research designs, helps prevent manipulating the study outcomes, and increases research transparency and visibility. But how and where do we preregister research studies?
In this 90-minute course we will introduce the concept of preregistration and discuss its benefits and challenges. We will also give you a step-by-step guide on how to preregister research studies and an overview over different online platforms where you can preregister your research.
We will wrap up with a question and answer session where you will be able to ask us any questions you might have about preregistration!
Target Audience
Primarily PhD students, postdocs, researchers, and research support staff at the University of Oslo. Participants from other Norwegian/Nordic universities are welcome to attend as well.
Learning Objectives
After the course, you will:
- know why preregistration is important and useful
- have an overview over where you can preregister research studies
- know what to be aware of when preregistering research studies
- be familiar with the benefits and challenges of preregistration
Setup
The course will take place digitally on Zoom and meeting link will be sent out to the registered participants the day before the course.
