Text mining with apps by the Digital Humanities Lab at the National Library of Norway

This workshops gives an introduction to the new apps developed by the Digital Humanities Lab (DH Lab) at the National Library of Norway to text mine all the texts digitized by the National Library. These user friendly apps are based on the Python package the DH Lab has made available of the National Library's digitized collections for text mining analysis in Jupyter Notebook, which you can still select to run.

Learning outcomes

You will get a demonstration of the text mining functionalities of the new apps, learning how to build a corpus and analyze concordances, analyse collocations, search with n-grams, do topic modeling, conduct named entity recognition (NER), and visualize word relations. We will look at some cases and help you get started with your own.

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites. This workshop suits those who work with large quantities of texts and are interested in learning more about text mining.

Target audience

PhD, Postdoc, Researcher, Research Assistant in the faculties of HF, SV, UV.
