Nerdy Science Cakes Competition

Iron your apron and dust off your rolling pin! It's almost time for the cutest and geekiest cake baking competition of the year. Bake alone, challenge your nemesis or best friend to a bake-off, or join a super team.

Image may contain: Food, Ingredient, Pink, Font, Ice cream.

How can I participate?

It's really easy to participate. All you have to do is follow three simple steps:

  1. Find a cool Nerdy concept you want to bake.
  2. Bake and decorate with scientific, fun or geeky shapes and forms. You may be as creative as you want.
  3. Deliver the creation to the Science Library on Tuesday 14 March between 9 -11. The jury, and everyone else, will then admire the cakes.

Who will win the trophy?

We obviously have fantastic prizes, and not least the Nerdy Science cakes trophy must change hands. This year's honorable jury is UiO Vice-Chancellor Svein Stølen, head of the Museum of University and Science History Bjørn Vidar Johansen and French expert confectioner Quentin Courdet.

May the geekiest cake win!

3.14

March 14 is not just π day. It is also the birthday of Albert Einstein, and our own Vilhelm Bjerknes. But most important of all: the Science Library's birthday. This must be celebrated, and what would a birthday celebration be without cake eating? Expect cake binging, birthday entertainment and a sugar rush!

Everyone is welcome - whether you are a baker or not.
