Welcome to an informal poetry reading with Hiromi Itô, one of the most prominent women writers of contemporary Japan, and her Norwegian translator Ika Kaminka.

You don't want to miss this opportunity to experience Hiromi Itô and Ika Kaminka read from Itô's book «Tornetrekkeren» («Togenuki») which was translated into Norwegian (2023), and other poetry collections published earlier in Norwegian.

About the author and her translators

Hiromi Itō is one of the most prominent women writers of contemporary Japan, with more than a dozen collections of poetry, several works of prose, numerous books of essays, and several major literary prizes to her name. We have several of her books in the library, check them out in Oria here!

Ika Kaminka, freelance translator based in Oslo, has translated many works by Hiromi Ito, among which are: «Ete, pule, drite, føde, drepe, blø» (2016) and "Eg er Anjuhimeko" (2017). «Tornetrekkeren: nye fortellinger om den fableaktige jizô fra Sugamo» («Togenuki Sugamo-jizô engi») came out from Solum bokvennen in 2023.
