Collections

The Student Library houses a collection of about 97 000 items including bachelor level curriculum and other core literature within arts and humanities, reference works, dictionaries, and CD-ROMs.

Books

Books in the Reading Room collection must be used in the library with an exception of fiction literature, which can be borrowed along with the books in the Borrowing Collection (UtlÄn) for two weeks.

The books are shelved according to the Student Library's own system where each subject field is represented by a letter, while the different subjects has got a number. For example: English grammar has got the signature J 140. In the Borrowing Collection the books are arranged within their subject fields alphabetically by author's name or title.

The whole library collection is classified under the Dewey Decimal Classification system and is searchable in the online catalogue Oria.

Journals and newspapers

The library has no running subscriptions of printed journals and newspapers. Contact the library in Georg Sverdrups hus for this material. See Oria for the University Library's complete collection of journals and newspapers.
